Letter: With Noel's track record, there's just one more thing for him to do: Secede

(Trent Nelson | The Salt Lake Tribune) Rep. Mike Noel, R-Kanab, in the House Chamber in Salt Lake City, Tuesday Feb. 13, 2018.

What a guy. Rep. Mike Noel, R-Kane County, owner of a good-sized parcel of land (which was not disclosed as required) that was conveniently carved out of President Trump’s redrawn Bears Ears boundary, “considers California to be a foreign entity.” He considers the United States government an enemy. He’s also expressed his dislike for the city/conservationist/tree hugging folk up in northern Utah. You know, the people trying to clean up the air they breathe like those foreigners in California are trying to do.

Only one action left, Mike. Secede. Deseret, here you come. You could be living the old prophecy of the Mormon Kingdom right there in San Juan and Kane counties. That would negate pesky treaties with the Laminates. And abolish the pesky U.S. Bill of Rights. You could dig up your entire country!

The only problem is that it would be harder to get all that money you try to coerce out of the state of Utah taxpayers to fund your personal battles and lawsuits. You also wouldn’t be able to muzzle opponents. Dang. But it might be doable. I’d sure support it. “King Mike the first Noel” sounds pretty good!
