A million years ago (late '50s and early '60s) when I was in high school, I learned in my civics classes that the USA is not a democracy but rather a democratic republic that relies on elected officials. Moreover, I learned that in order for our nation to be truly viable, we also need a Fourth Estate that holds all elected officials equally accountable.

Sadly, The Salt Lake Tribune fails miserably in this regard. Personally, I do not mind seeing far-left-wing articles and political cartoons, as long as the newspaper also prints articles and political cartoons from the right. I think your readers need to see both sides of the issues, so they can make well considered and educated decisions.

By doing this, your newspaper would become a more responsible community member of entire state of Utah and likely increase your readership as well.
