This is regarding a letter by Phil Lindhardt published on May 25, "Prove it first, BYU."

He writes that Brigham Young University needs to prove its prowess, just as the University of Utah did, to be invited into a Power 5 conference.

I have news for you, Mr. Lindhardt. Utah was not invited based on its prowess but because the Pac 12 needed to expand and both the universities of Oklahoma and Texas declined an invite.

You say BYU must prove it is worthy? Where have you been the past 30-plus years? BYU has beaten Texas twice the past two years, beaten Nebraska on Nebraska's home field (the first time the Huskers have lost a home opener in 30-plus years) and has beaten other teams from P-5 leagues. Just last year they came very close to beating, and should have beaten, UCLA of the Pac 12. BYU has proven they are worthy of being in a P-5 conference.
