Sen. Mike Lee exercised political deceit by accusing President Obama of breaking the law on immigration in an email to Utah citizens. Lee used his personal, far right-biased interpretation of the Constitution to condemn the president while he stalls the president's legal right to appoint a Supreme Court nominee.

Lee's lack of action on that constitutional law is exactly what he accuses the president of doing on immigration policy. That is duplicity at its most flagrant political extreme.

Not unlike Donald Trump, Lee's email accuses politicians and bureaucrats of rewriting the rules, flouting the law and "rigging" public policy in their favor. All the while he does the precisely same thing. He coquettishly tells us how our "moms and dads" taught us better. I'm wondering what instructions his mom and dad gave him about obfuscating, disrespect and lack of cooperation.

Immigration reform is a joint effort between the president and the Congress. When the senator agrees to interview the president's nominee, he may more appropriately attempt to make his position on immigration known.

In the meantime, perhaps he can stop blocking funds that will protect innocent children from the Zika virus.
