Over the years I have been witness to many of the ridiculous actions of the Utah Legislature. One of the worst is what is happening to the expansion of Medicaid. Thousands of our fellow citizens lack health insurance. As far as I am aware, none of the Republican legislators fall into that group.

Instead of trying to reach a consensus solution to the problem (involving all representatives both Republican and Democrat), the Republicans are saying that only Republican members of the House are entitled to vote on the compromise that was three years in the making. This action essentially disenfranchises the thousands of voters who voted for someone other than a Republican.

This action is not only undemocratic, but is antidemocratic. It is unfortunate that such extreme arrogance resides in the Legislature.
