The Utah Highway Patrol has identified a motorcyclist who died after a Sunday crash on State Route 89, about 15 miles south of the Utah-Idaho border.

Troopers say that Warren D. Karns, 67, of Ogden, was riding northbound about 1 p.m. The bike was traveling at high speed when it went off the road to the right, struck a boulder and threw Karns, UHP reported.

Troopers said that Karns was able to remove his helmet, climb back up to the roadway and flag down a passing motorist before losing consciousness. Passers-by began CPR and when he stopped breathing, and paramedics arrived soon thereafter, but Karns was declared dead at the scene a short time later.
