A snowboarder was in critical condition Monday after reportedly falling over rocks at Snowbasin Ski Resort.

Just after 1 p.m. Monday, the 25-year-old man lost control and crashed while in the Finger Chutes, which is outside of the ski-area boundaries above the Mt. Ogden Bowl, according to a press statement from the resort.

He possibly fell several hundred feet over rocks, and suffered "severe head trauma," said Weber County Sheriff's Sgt. Lane Findley. The snowboarder's identity was not immediately released.

Snowbasin Resort Ski Patrol responded and the snowboarder was flown to McKay-Dee Hospital.

The incident comes just a day after a skier died at Snowbird Ski Resort.

On Sunday afternoon, 57-year-old Jeff Gentry lost control during a fast descent and struck his head on a tree near the bottom of the "Black Diamond"-class Chip's Face Run.
