After someone spray painted swastikas onto a Middle Eastern restaurant, South Salt Lake police are investigating the vandalism as a hate crime.
The symbols were painted onto a front window and door of the Middle Eastern Pastry & Deli, near 3300 S. Main Street, about 11:20 p.m. Tuesday.
Video surveillance showed the suspect was a male wearing a coat over a hoodie, a baseball cap, jeans, sneakers, and "something over his face," said police spokesman Gary Keller.
The business owners found the swastikas Wednesday morning. The symbols have since been removed.
Anyone with information about the vandalism is asked to call the South Salt Lake Police Department at 801-840-4000.
