A man died Friday evening after being hit by a car in Magna.

Gordon Dean, who was in his early 90s, was walking from his house to buy some food when he stepped off the curb at the intersection of 8300 W. 3500 South, said Detective Jared Richardson. Almost immediately after, a westbound minivan hit him about 7:10 p.m.

Dean was killed on impact, Richardson said.

Richardson noted that the T-style intersection does not have lights or a crosswalk.

The driver is cooperating with police, who are still investigating the crash.
