West Valley City police are still looking for up to three people in connection with a man's suspected murder.

About 1:15 a.m. Saturday, dispatchers received a call about a fight near 4100 South and 4985 West, and a separate call about gunshots, said Sgt. Justin Wycoff. When officers arrived, they found a sliding glass door open to the backyard.

"The door led into the kitchen of the home, where there were obvious signs that a struggle had taken place," a news release reads. "Officers called out into the residence, but received no answer in response."

When they went inside, they found a man's body, with a gunshot wound.

Investigators had not released the man's identity, but Wycoff described him as a man between 20 and 30 years old.

Investigators later learned that "up to three" people, described as wearing all black, with bandannas on their faces, allegedly forced their way into the home, according to the release. They confronted the homeowner and the man, and at some point, "one or more of the subjects is believed to have fired a gun multiple times inside of the residence," the release adds.

They then reportedly fled from the home in a large, dark-colored, Suburban-style SUV.

As of about 5:30 p.m., police were still looking for the vehicle and the subjects, said police spokeswoman Roxeanne Vainuku.

The medical examiner will perform an autopsy to confirm the man's identity and cause of death, which police are investigating as a homicide.
