An 18-year-old has been accused of distributing THC-laced cookies at a high school in Draper.
THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, is the psychoactive compound of marijuana that gives the user a high.
On the afternoon of Nov. 20, a teacher reported to Corner Canyon High School administration that one of his students smelled strongly of marijuana, according to an arrest document.
The administration searched the 18-year-old student’s backpack and found cookies in a plastic bag. The cookies smelled of marijuana, the arrest document states.
The student had sold the cookies — which were made with THC butter — for $10 a pop in the West Jordan area, the teenager told a Draper detective. Some of the cookies also went to students at the high school, he said.
Charges hadn’t been filed against the teenager as of Friday. While Canyons School District spokesman Jeff Haney declined to comment on this case, he said the student would have been suspended or expelled immediately after the November incident.
No other students have been disciplined in connection with the baked goods, he said.
