Two people were seriously injured Saturday evening in a West Jordan car crash.

The accident happened near 9000 S. Mountain View Corridor just before 7 p.m., according to West Jordan Police Sgt. Dan Roberts.

A westbound vehicle driven by an 18-year-old ran a red light and collided with another vehicle, according to the sergeant. Roberts said several people were injured, including two that were taken from the scene by medical helicopter, but he did not know the severity of their injuries.

KUTV reports that one person was ejected from the car that ran the red light and another had to be extricated from the vehicle.

Two children were in the other vehicle, and were taken to a Riverton hospital as a precaution, the television station reported.
