It wasn't easy, but I managed to quit "Hawaii Five-0" cold turkey last fall.

It's a show that I once liked — never loved, but liked — but it has long since become badly written baloney. I didn't even hate watch it, because I didn't care enough to comment on how bad it was.

But it was an hour of my life I was wasting every week on a show I didn't like anymore.

Why? Because I'm a stupidly loyal viewer. Once I latch on to a show, I tend to stick with it. I've watched all 207 episodes of "The Big Bang Theory." All 241 episodes of "Supernatural." All 268 episodes of "Grey's Anatomy." All 487 episodes of "Survivor." All 596 episodes of "The Simpsons."

Wow, I'm exhausted. That's 1,799 episodes. That's 1,397 ½ hours of broadcast time. More than eight weeks.

And I've watched repeats of a lot of episodes. Criminy.

That I was able to quit "Hawaii Five-O" after 120 episodes is almost miraculous.

There's so much good TV out there, it's not worth it to waste time on bad TV. Maybe there's some kind of support group that could help me give up some of my other bad TV habits, including:

"Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." • This is a tough one. There are things I like about this show. But far too often, it's a chore to sit through episodes.

"Amazing Race" • I've always been a fan of this show, but nothing about it has felt new for several years.

"Empire" • I love a good soap opera. This is not a good soap opera. And it's not campy enough to be entertainingly bad.

"Grey's Anatomy" • I actively hate watching this, complaining about how bad it is even while I'm watching. It used to be a decent medical soap opera. But it ran out of ideas several seasons ago. Now it's just annoying.

"Homeland" • This show used to be great. Season 1 was classic. But after five seasons, it's getting harder and harder to sit through.

"How to Get Away With Murder" • Season 1 was good. Season 2 was a mess. There's no reason to watch Season 3.

"Nashville" • It should be easier to break the bad habit of watching this bad soap — it's moving to CMT now that ABC has canceled it.

"The 100" • This show has gone so far afield from its original premise it's almost unrecognizable. And not much fun this past season.

"Project Runway All Stars" • I still like "Project Runway." But "All Stars," which features contestants who are anything but, is a pale imitation. No Tim Gunn? No Heidi Klum? No way.

"Quantico" • The first episode was intriguing, but every succeeding episode got worse. The time-jumping and plot twists were just plain dumb. And it was a bore.

"Teen Wolf" • Not only has this show lost its sense of humor, but it has become a confusing mishmash of characters and ever-changing supernatural rules.

"Sleepy Hollow" • The first season was good. It's been all downhill since then.

"Supernatural" • I used to love this show. And it's not terrible. But it's not what it once was — it should have ended about three years ago.

"The Walking Dead" • OK, I'm curious to see who got killed in the most recent cliffhanger. But other than that, I'm mostly bored. You can fast-forward through big chunks s and not miss anything.
