Cuisine and Culture from Italy

Cucina Toscana's is offering a summer program that takes guests on a cultural tour of Italy. The series, which take place four times throughout the summer, includes food, wine and Italian opera performed by soprano, Rebekah Rota. Her European performances include, among others, Violetta in "La Traviata," Mimi in "La Boheme," Pamina in "The Magic Flute," Micaela in "Carmen" and Anna Reich in "The Merry Wives of Windsor."

When • June 25, at 7 p.m.; repeated July 16, July 30 and Aug. 20 also at 7 p.m.

Cost • $90 for dinner and musical performance; optional wine pairings an additional $40. Reservations required.

Urban garden and farm tour

Take a self-paced tour of inspiring backyards, urban homesteads and community gardens during Wasatch Community Gardens annual Urban Garden and Farm tour, formerly the Tour de Coops. Participants will get ideas for raising chickens and other small livestock, small-space gardening, water-wise growing, beekeeping and more. A tour map and details of each stop will be mailed to participants after their online ticket purchase.

Trestle Tavern launches Kickstarter campaign

Diners who donate to the Trestle Tavern Kickstarter Campaign get perks when the new Salt Lake City eatery opens in July. Diners can donate as little as $25 for a ticket to a pre-opening event where they will be among the first to sample the food; or give up to $7,500, which earns them a VIP house account. Trestle Tavern, which will be the fifth and newest member of the Pago Restaurant Group, is located in the old Fresco spot at 1513 S. 1500 East. The menu includes casual fare with a nod toward Eastern European pub food, including pierogies, chicken paprikash and fried chicken. The campaign runs through Saturday, July 9, at kickstarter.com/projects/1387487407/trestle-tavern.

Food and drink that benefit the birds and more

Tickets are on sale for Eat Drink SLC, a summer social and fundraiser that benefits Tracy Aviary, Race Swami and SB Dance. The event features food from some of Salt Lake City's top restaurant and food purveyors as well as beer, wine and cocktails from Utah craft brewers and distillers.
