West Valley City • Amy Schumer said she wanted to open her Thursday show at Maverik Center with some Utah-specific jokes.

"Remember when the Olympics were here?" she asked sheepishly before pausing. "All right, that's all I've got."

Schumer's 1 hour, 3 minute show touched on many of the themes that have helped her rise to stardom. There were the stories about her sex life, boyfriend and body image.

"I want to apologize to the first three rows for what they're going to see tonight," she said while talking about her refusal to wear Spanx for the show.

She also rambled through a variety of topics like the game show "Family Feud," her disdain for the magazine Women's Health and trying to stand-up paddle board in the ocean, all receiving plenty of laughs.

She poked fun at audience members a couple times, including a few German fans.

"I'm a German Jew," she said. "There used to be a lot more of us," which was met with laughs and gasps.

Of course there were the stories about her brushes with other celebrities. Like her crush on Bradley Cooper. And her interaction with Hillary Clinton at the former secretary of state's birthday party.

But Schumer at times seemed to question how well her act would play in Utah, likely because many of her jokes can't be repeated in the newspaper. "I didn't know if I was going to draw [a big audience] in this town," she said early in the show, which was met with loud applause.

Toward the end of the show, she said, almost apologetically, "I know where I am, but …" before starting to talk about the need for tighter gun control and the backlash she's received because of her stance. She said she was moved to speak out about the issue after two girls were killed in a theater while watching her movie "Trainwreck" last summer.

The applause to the bit was more subdued than the rest of her act, but she didn't spend more than a couple minutes on the topic.

"Thanks for sticking with me on that one, guys," she said to wrap it up.

She concluded by lightening the tone, choosing to finish with a story about a suggestive text she sent from Katie Couric's phone to Couric's husband.

Schumer left the stage to a standing ovation after thanking the crowd, saying it was the best ever. She claimed she doesn't always use that line.
