Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii has settled its lawsuit with a Canadian roaster over the HALF ASS (all upper case) label on its decaffeinated coffee.

The Utah-based coffee company filed a notice in federal court in Salt Lake City on Wednesday saying it was dismissing its suit against Kicking Horse Coffee Co. The lawsuit claimed that Bad Ass had exclusive right to label its beans HALF ASS, and the British Columbia company was violating Bad Ass trademarks by labeling its own decaf as Half Ass.

The notice said only that the parties had reached a settlement of the suit filed in October but gave no details. Emails to Bad Ass attorneys and a spokeswoman for Kicking Horse seeking information were not immediately returned.
