South Salt Lake police are asking for the public's help in solving the robbery of a disabled man.

About 1 a.m. on Aug. 24, two males entered the victim's apartment, near 3400 S. 200 East, through an open door. One of them was allegedly armed with a gun and pistol-whipped the 66-year-old man, according to a South Salt Lake police news release.

The suspects then allegedly bound the man's hands and taped him to his motorized wheelchair, according to the release.

"The suspects ransacked the apartment and forced the victim to give them the combination of his safe," the release adds. The suspects — who were wearing hooded sweatshirts, baseball caps and gloves — allegedly loaded the victim's Ford Explorer with electronics, medication, personal checks and other personal belongings, then drove away in the vehicle.

A neighbor later found the man, who had a cut on his forehead and a bloody face.

"Within hours of the robbery, the victim's credit cards were being used across the Salt Lake Valley by three females," police say. The females were reportedly driving a dark-colored, possibly green Toyota Paseo with no visible license plate or temporary tag.

Officers later found the man's Explorer at Hillsdale Park in West Valley City, but the stolen property was not in it.

Police have released surveillance photos of the three females and the vehicle, hoping someone can identify them. Anyone with information is asked to call South Salt Lake Police Dispatch at 801-840-4000.

"All calls are confidential and callers can remain anonymous," the release adds.
