A worker on a roofing crew died from electrocution and two others were in critical condition Friday after they were shocked while using a ladder at a Draper building.

The three men were working about 10:45 a.m. on the Bailie's Gymnastics building, 88 W. 13100 South, when a ladder fell against a power line, said Unified Fire Authority spokesman David Ulibarri. The three men came in contact with the ladder and were shocked.

A fourth crew member, who was on the roof, was not injured and called 911, Ulibarri said.

Medics arrived to find that two of the men were not breathing and had no pulse, Ulibarri said. Medics performed CPR and were able to restore a pulse for one of them, who was then flown to University Hospital. The other died at the scene, Ulibarri said.

The third victim was unconscious but breathing, Ulibarri said. He also was taken to University Hospital.

Rocky Mountain Power crews cut power to the line. Officials with the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration were investigating.

Ulibarri said he did not know the names or ages of the three men.

The Tribune will report further details as they become available.
