United By Blue, an outdoor apparel company, organized a cleanup of the Jordan River at Jordan Park in Salt Lake City on Saturday.

The company is an exhibitor at the Outdoor Industry Association's summer market, Outdoor Retailer, which is being held in Salt Lake City next week and will draw thousands.

"That kind of traffic certainly leaves its mark, which is why United By Blue has been coming to the show early for the last four years to help clean up local waterways," it said in a news release.

Volunteers at the United by Blue cleanups have removed 641 pounds of trash from the Jordan River since 2012, the company said. Subaru and Backcountry.com also are official sponsors of this year's project.
