Police were on the lookout for several suspects in an early Friday morning shooting incident at a South Salt Lake Maverik store.

SSLPD spokesman Gary Keller said detectives have confirmed, using security camera video recorded at the store, located near 3300 South and West Temple, that at least four males were involved in the 3 a.m. incident — and one of them may have been wounded.

First, two males arrived in a dark-colored Toyota Camry or Corolla, and as they stood just outside the store entrance, two other males walked up to them. Two of the suspects apparently recognized each other, an altercation developed and the second of the walk-on suspects pulled a handgun and began shooting.

Keller said police found a small amount of blood at the scene, and believe one of the men suffered at least a minor gunshot wound.

All four suspects fled the scene and remained at large, Keller said.

He said a Mercedes, initially thought connected to the incident, was stopped in West Valley City a short time later, but it turned out that vehicle and its occupants were not involved in the Maverik case.
