Salt Lake City police have arrested a man they believe deliberately hit his girlfriend with his car and fled.

Anthony Robert Vigil, 29, struck his girlfriend with his 2000 Lincoln town car about 4:55 p.m. Thursday at 151 West and Mead Avenue (980 South), Detective Cody Lougy said.

He said Vigil was later arrested in South Salt Lake.

The 25-year-old victim was taken to a hospital in critical condition, police said.
