A series of precipitation-laden storm pulses expected throughout this weekend has the Utah Department of Transportation reminding motorists to slow down and take care.

Widespread rain and snow, heavy at times, were expected across much of central and southern portions of the state beginning late Friday and extending well into Monday.

Mountain passes especially will feel the wrath of the cold front rolling into the region from the Pacific Northwest. Travel through the central and southern mountains will be icy and dicey, especially early Saturday morning into the afternoon.

Drivers should take special note of weather conditions on the following routes:

— Interstate 15 from Nephi south to Cedar City

— All of Interstate 70, especially Clear Creek and Ivie Creek summits.

— US-89, from Mount Pleasant south to Kanab

— US-191, from Crescent Junction south to Blanding, and Indian Canyon Summit.

— US-6, west desert routes; Soldier Summit.

— US-40, Daniel's Summit.
