A man was shot Thursday night by a member of the Weber-Morgan Narcotics Strike Force who had tracked him down at an Ogden restaurant, police said.

Two officers who serve on the strike force had been looking for the man and got information that he was at Lee's BBQ at 2800 Washington Blvd., according to Lt. Danielle Croyle of the Ogden Police Department. An altercation began and shots were fired, she said.

The man was taken to McKay-Dee Hospital, where he was in surgery late Thursday night, Croyle said. The officer was not shot but was being treated for another injury at the same hospital, she said.

Croyle did not know why the strike force was looking for the man, who was armed with a gun, or why the situation escalated. She said multiple patrons witnessed the shooting; no one was injured.

The officer who shot the man works for the Ogden Police Department and is assigned to the strike force; he will be put on administrative leave while the shooting is investigated, Croyle said.
