Posted: 12:19 PM- Tour of Utah executive director Terry McGinnis speculated Wednesday that Rock Racing, possibly pro cycling's most controversial team, would send its 'A' squad to participate in Utah's race in August.
It appears he is right. Rock Racing has sent him its proposed participation list and it includes American Tyler Hamilton, the 2004 Olympic champion who served a two-year suspension after failing a blood doping test, and Oscar Sevilla, who finished seventh at the 2001 Tour de France but was fired from his team, T-Mobile, after he was linked to the Operation Puerto drug scandal in 2006.
Hamilton and Sevilla were prevented from racing in February's Tour of California and the team was excluded from the upcoming Tour de Georgia because of the ties to the drug scandals.
The rest of the proposed roster includes Michael Creed, Cesar Grajales, Doug Ollrenshaw, Victor Hugo Pena and Adam Switters.
Pena is a previous member of US Postal and wore the yellow jersey for three days in the 2003 Tour de France and Grajales earned fame when he beat Armstrong and other world class racers in the Brasstown Bald stage of the 2004 Tour de Georgia.
