LOGAN - Utah State University's College of Business is betting a newly named administrator will make a world of difference - literally. Chris Fawson has been appointed associate dean for international affairs - a new position designed to have a global impact. Doug Anderson, dean of the College of Business, said more and more companies are doing business internationally, and USU is dedicated to helping students prepare for the worldwide workplace. Fawson said he would like to see all business students have an international experience in an academic setting before they graduate. He is initiating efforts to bring a USU international-business degree program to students in China and Taiwan. "Adding a global component to their education will make our students more marketable and prepared to make contributions to business and the communities the students live in," Fawson said. A Utah native, Fawson graduated from Texas A&M with a master's degree in 1983 and a doctorate in economics in 1986. He has been at USU for 17 years and served as the vice provost for academic and international affairs from 2001 to '05. From 2005 to '06, he directed the economics department. - Arrin Newton Brunson
