PROVO Searchers found four people dead Thursday morning in a cave on a Provo hillside.

A woman's body was retrieved at 9:45 a.m. from an underwater tunnel of water that leads to another cavern, according to Karen Mayne, public information officer for the Provo Police Department.

Crews found three other people dead in the other cavern about 10:45 a.m. and were in the process of retrieving their bodies.

Police did not release the identities of the victims, ages 19 to 28.

The cave is just northeast of the Seven Peaks Water Park, and is relatively unknown, said searchers at the scene.

The Associated Press reported that a man with the four people told police that his friends swam through a pool of water in a narrow part of the cave to get to an underwater entrance to another chamber in the cave. Whe they did not return after about an hour, he called authorities.
