Delta’s Snow Goose Days event takes place Friday and Saturday

(Rick Egan | Tribune File Photo) Snow Geese fly over Gunnison Bend Reservoir, during the annual Delta Goose Festival in 2010. The state wildlife is holding its annual Snow Goose Day viewing event during the Delta Snow Goose Festival Feb. 21 and 22. Each spring as many as 20,000 snow geese and Ross' geese fly through Utah on their migratory flights north. The waterfowl stop at Gunnison Bend Reservoir for a break, providing excellent viewing opportunities.

Few things in nature are quite as spectacular as hearing and seeing thousands of snow geese.

That’s why Delta’s celebration of Snow Goose Days this Friday and Saturday is definitely worth a trip to Millard County.

The Delta Chamber of Commerce hosts the annual event that includes seeing up to 20,000 geese in and around Gunnison Bend Reservoir as well as some other fun events, such as a walk and run called the Wild Goose Chase, an arts and crafts fair, and a quilt show.

The Division of Wildlife Resources will set up spotting scopes to offer a close look at the geese that migrate through the area this time of year. Biologists will be on hand to answer questions.

The best times to see the geese are between 9 and 10:30 a.m., and between 4 and 6 p.m.
