Mark your calendars now: The Sundance Film Festival has set its dates for its 2025 edition.

The independent film festival will bring Hollywood’s attention to Park City and Salt Lake City from Jan. 23 to Feb. 2, 2025, the nonprofit Sundance Institute announced Tuesday.

In a news release, Eugene Hernandez, who started last year in the role of director of the festival and the institute’s public programming, said: “While the next Sundance Film Festival is still 10 months away, we’re already laying the foundation for the 2025 edition, looking ahead to sharing a new group of artists’ work with audiences at the start of next year.”

Hernandez added that his first festival as director was “filled with so many moving, inspiring stories of discovery with emerging and established artists from around the world connecting with festivalgoers.”

IndieWire, the online trade publication Hernandez co-founded, reported last week that the Metropolitan Theaters Corporation, which operates two of Sundance’s Park City venues — the Redstone 8 and Holiday Village Cinemas 4 multiplexes — filed for bankruptcy at the end of February.

Planning for the festival, including its venues, is in its early stages. This year, Sundance used two of its larger Park City venues, the Eccles Center Theatre and the Prospector Theatre, only during the festival’s first half. Two other venues, the MARC and the Temple Theatre, have not been used since 2020, before the COVID-19 pandemic prompted Sundance to go entirely virtual in 2021 and 2022.

This year’s festival saw single-ticket prices increase, and had 80% of the festival’s program on sale to distributors. The institute’s contract with the city of Park City ends after the 2026 festival; Park City public-radio station KPCW reported in January that the nonprofit has until October to initiate talks for an extension.

In its release, Sundance Institute stated it would share more details about the 2025 festival in the coming months.
