Here’s what ‘The Sandlot’ looks like 25 years after the movie was filmed in Utah

Plus, two ways to celebrate the film’s anniversary.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of “The Sandlot,” a film about a group of kids who bond over America’s favorite pastime one summer in 1960s California.

While the film was set in the Golden State — including Dodger Stadium — it was mostly filmed in and around Ogden and Salt Lake City.

You can still see some familiar scenes from the movie today. The iconic sandlot itself has changed the most.

Celebrate the 25th anniversary of the film in two ways this week:

THE BEES CELEBRATE THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY OF “THE SANDLOT”

The first pitch will be thrown by stars of the movie — Tom Guiry (Smalls), Marty York (Yeah-Yeah), Victor DiMattia (Timmy), Shane Obedzinski (Tommy), Brandon Quintin Adams (DeNunez), Grant Gelt (Bertram), Wil Horneff (Phillips) and Patrick Renna (Ham) — and director David Mickey Evans.

When • 6:45 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 10

Where • Smith’s Ballpark, 77 W. 1300 South, Salt Lake City

“THE SANDLOT" ON THE SANDLOT

A sold-out screening will include a meet-and-greet with cast members. There will be concessions at the outdoor showing in the sandlot, and event organizers advise bringing chairs and blankets for seating on the dirt field.

When: 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 11 (field opens at 5 p.m.)
